I have enjoyed cooking all of my life. I have early memories of Mom making loaves of wonderfully smelling bread each week and of my Grandma having rows of kolache with different fruit fillings on her kitchen counter. I grew up on a farm a few miles east of Foley, Minnesota. One of my first jobs as a teenager was at Crosstown Café in St. Cloud. After high school graduation, I continued education in the Culinary Arts department at St. Cloud Technical College, while working at The St. Cloud Country Club.
After graduation I accepted the chef’s position at The 400 Supper Club. I married my wife Kathy and we raised three children. I continued there until 2007 when I left to take a position at St. John’s University to be in charge of the production of their famous St. John’s Bread. I continue there today mainly keeping the student, faculty and monastic community nourished.
Kathy and I have always enjoyed staying at bed and breakfasts while traveling. We liked the concept of meeting people over a nice meal in a place that has some history. We always had it in our minds that it would be a neat thing to do, but that sounded like a lot of house maintenance and an awful lot of laundry. So I decided to start up Let’s Toast. I can now enjoy bringing lovely menus to your table and hope to be a part of your special memories with friends and family.
